Cockpit Overview
Designed to accommodate four people, the 46-footer is set up in two-man racing form.
Separating the driver and throttleman is a console with dual shifters and throttles.
A GPS unit and mechanical tab and drive-trim indicators are located on the dash between the driver’s
and throttleman’s consoles. An escape hatch with porthole is located in the sole ahead
of the shifters.
Throttleman’s Gauge Cluster
The gauges are grouped by engine with the most important, oil and water pressure,
clustered in the center closest to the line
of sight. All gauges are mechanical rather
than electric to eliminate the worry of failures. In the panel to the throttleman’s
left are the drive and trim-tab buttons. Ahead of those are switches for
backup /primer fuel pumps and the ignition switches.
Driver’s Gauge Cluster
Left of the Gaffrig GPS speedometer is the driver’s most important
instrument, the rudder
indicator gauge. It gives the driver a better idea what the boat is doing as it goes down the course.
Below and to the right of the speedometer are fuel level and voltage gauges. In the panel to the
driver’s right are controls for the onboard intercom system, a VHF radio and push-to-talk switch
to communicate with the crew on shore.
